Filip Yip, MBA

Filip Yip is a global creative whose life and career span three continents. Long before Manga aesthetics became a default visual style in AI image generation, he was already pioneering their fusion into mainstream branding and visual identity work. His approach blends cultural fluency, conceptual precision, and timeless artistry — a balance that continues to define his practice today.

Raised in a secular family in Hong Kong, Filip convinced his father, who grew up in atheist, communist China, to allow him to be baptized as a Catholic during his teenage years. Later, his curiosity about consciousness and philosophy led him to explore Buddhism while living in Paris. This synthesis of Western and Eastern thought continues to shape his worldview and creative ethics — deeply spiritual, yet grounded in logic and clarity.

Filip studied visual communication and advertising at university and went on to build a long and distinguished career in branding and marketing. As an independent design consultant and expert illustrator, he has served the high-caliber creative needs of some of the world’s top agencies and most demanding brand leaders. His work includes the creation of numerous enduring visual assets and campaigns for global consumer brands. Known for his precision, adaptability, and narrative sensitivity, Filip brings a rare combination of artistry and strategic thinking to every collaboration.

Driven by curiosity and a desire for intellectual rigor, he pursued an MBA at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business — home to the world’s most Nobel-recognized economists. There, he honed analytical and strategic frameworks that strengthened his ability to deliver design solutions based on sound reasoning and business insight. While at Booth, Filip and his cohort won a business plan competition with a food enterprise concept designed for Arusha, Tanzania. He later co-founded two tea companies, including one structured as a social enterprise, applying his expertise in brand asset creation to test his vision of a “for-good, for-profit” business model.

Filip approaches life and work as an integrated whole, where spirituality, health, and creativity coexist in harmony. Dividing his time between New York and Paris, he actively co-parents his two teenage children with his wife while managing clients across time zones. A believer in mindful living, he maintains a minimalist training routine, often accompanying his children to their martial arts lessons. He also shares creative time with his son, composing electronic music, or in the kitchen, experimenting with family favorites like Chili con Carne, Mapo Tofu, BBQ ribs, white-cut chicken, katsu-don, and slow-cooked bone broth.
